Becky is a Certified Yoga Therapist (C-IAYT), Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator/trainer, and an Ohio licensed mental health and substance abuse counseling professional (LPCC-S, LICDC-CS) who offers somatic-therapeutic yoga as a component of her counseling wellness practice. She has studied many forms of therapeutic yoga, applying the practices of yoga such as meditation, movement, and breath for understanding management of chronic stress, addiction, and mood. She is inspired by the work of Lisa Clark, Linda Oshins, Tom Myers, Amy Weintraub, Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen, Doug Keller, and many others who she has accessed in workshops and trainings. She offers yoga therapy in her classes, workshops, and trainings for students to explore empowerment of one's own health and spiritual wellness. 

 

Becky has lived in several parts of the US, is an avid outdoor enthusiast, and shares strength and humor from her life experiences. She has earned a BS in Zoology from The Ohio State University, a MA in Mental Health, Substance Abuse Counseling and Wellness from Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont, and is currently completing a PhD is Counseling Education and Supervision with Capella University. Becky envisions offering empathy development and vitalization curricula for counselors, educators, physicians, and others. 

 

Her enthusiasm for spiritual seeking and for her work as a mental health/yoga therapist weaves a sense of hope, healing, and insightful understanding of personal evolution into  Yoga teaching.

Becky Morrissey is Sangha Yoga Studio's current steward. She took her first yoga class in a YMCA in 1989, and has aspired to make her yoga practice a way of life. She teaches yoga classes in the Cincinnati Tristate, Pittsburgh, Dayton, and Columbus communities. She completed 500 level certifications (ERYT500) with EMBODIYoga® with Lisa Clark Yoga and with Yoga on High in Columbus, Ohio. Her current on-going training passion is supervising trauma sensitive yoga teachers in providing yoga modalities for recovering students.

Becky's offerings at Sangha Yoga Studio:

Somatic Hatha Yoga &  Breath Classes Thursday 7-8 pm

Suitable for all levels and interests in yoga, including those recovering from breast cancer or addiction. Becky offers carefully crafted Trauma-sensitive teaching style with somatic yoga movement, This class is experiential, educational, and a sanctuary for yoga beginners, students, and teachers. Welcome! By donation.
